Digital Fabrication Consulting, Architectural Design Optimization

Team: Impremere AG

Client: Horizon Legacy

Location: Gananoque, Canada

2022

This project was part of the finalists of the Marco Polo Digital Build Challenge. A two-storey House, containing three Suites, that would be 3D-printed out of Concrete.

Part of the process, was to take the existing architectural layout and optimize it and advance it for 3D-Printing. The resulting ribbed facade is a product of computational design, by using the opening spaces as attractors. The attractors in the script make the ribbed facade become straight, thus ensuring an optimal placement of windows and an overall effect of vertical waves. Such an effect is only achievable through 3D-printing.
